Second reply from James Likoudis

On Sunday, August 7, 2011  James Likoudis sent the following reply in response to my last letter:

Dear Mr. Adroit,

1. Divine Revelation ended with the death of the last Apostle.
2. That Revelation by Christ was confided to the Church He established on Peter and the Apostles.
3. “Thou art Peter [Rock] and on this Rock I will build My Church”…”To thee I will give the Keys of the Kingdom of Heaven {symbol of supreme authority in the Church….}(Matt. 16: 18-19); See also Luke 22: 31-32 wherein Peter is charged to “conform his brethren”; and Jn. 22: 15-17 wherein Peter, the Chief of the Apostles, is commissioned to feed all the lambs and sheep of Christ (Jn. 21:15-17).  Since this Office is to last as long as the visible Church Militant itself, obviously Peter’s successor, the Bishop of Rome, carries on with that Office. The Office of Peter’s Primacy exercised by the Pope is necessary to the very existence of the Church. That is the witness of all Church History.
4. Conclusion to be drawn: You do not belong among the lambs and sheep of Christ committed to Peter and his successors. You preach a new Gospel: “If anyone preach a gospel other than that which you have received, let him be anathema.” (Gal.1: 9-10). “There are some who wish to pervert the gospel of Christ.: (Gal. 1:8). Our Lord Himself spoke of “false prophets” who would disturb the faithful of His Church. How do you know you are not one of them? I prefer the Gospel that the Catholic Church has taught for 2,000 years. As early as the 2nd century, Christians recited the Apostles’ Creed (the baptismal Creed of the Roman Church, “I believe the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic Church…”
5. I invite you to study the Faith of the one and only Church Christ established in this world and alone accurately interprets the many biblical texts you invoke. You ignore that the Bible is a Catholic Book.
Sincerely yours,
JL

Dear James Likoudis,

Thank you for your response to my Testimony e-mailed to you on the 30th of July, 2011 titled, “The Highest Blessings on Earth are spoken for Shadrach Ere a rock-ribbed Anglican, by Christ and the Holy Father in Heaven May 15, 1970.” »Read More

Reply from James Likoudis

On Saturday, July 30, 2011  James Likoudis sent the following reply:

Sir,:
I do not know who you are or why you bothered to send me your strange screed to me. You certainly appear to be a  religious crank hiding behind religious platitudes. Faith in Christ is not enough for salvation. It is necessary to do good works in charity to be saved. “Not everyone who says to Me  “Lord, Lord’, will enter the Kingdom of Heaven.”
You speak of a “big lie”; you committed one when you falsely accuse the Catholic Church of condemning Baptists, Anglicans, etc. to Hell. Your “testimonies” are false.
The Church regards separated Christians as “brothers” in imperfect communion with the Catholic Church, though she prays and labors for their reception of the fullness of the Christian faith.
Please read the documents “Dogmatic Constitution on the Church”: and “Decree on Ecumenism” of Vatican II. to inform you accurately on Catholic Church teaching.
As to the Pope, he is the successor of Peter and heir to the latter’s prerogatives as visible head of the Church on earth: See Matt. 16: 18-19; Luke 22: 31-32; Jn. 21: 15-17 to read what the Invisible Head, Christ did for the visible unity of His one and only visible Church. As to Scott Hahn, he has a far better understanding of Holy Scripture than you regarding the Church and its visible head. Scott also knows that the overwhelming verdict of Church History:  from the day Peter was martyred in Rome, the Papacy always existed in the form of the Bishops of Rome exercising the powers of the Keys in the Church and being the Rock of the entire Episcopate. The Gates of Hell cannot prevail against the Catholic Church built on the Rock of Peter and his successors.l
Sincerely,
JL
